Iceberg Web Design is looking for an experienced WordPress developer to join our fast-growing, energetic team of penguins. WordPress & WooCommerce Developer.

As a website developer at Iceberg Web Design, you will report to Iceberg’s Head of Production. You will work as a crucial team member in our Production department, primarily working on developing complex WordPress websites. This will include installing and working with WordPress, theme customization, WooCommerce development and customization, working with membership websites, and building marketing websites.

You will also assist Iceberg’s team and CSR with open support tickets. As an experienced developer, you will take ownership over development projects to meet deadlines, and be able to independently troubleshoot and solve website and WordPress plugin conflicts.

Job Responsibilities.

  • Work closely with the production team to assist in building websites in WordPress;
  • Write WordPress and WooCommerce functions and hooks, and customize plugin functionality;
  • Build and troubleshoot WordPress, WooCommerce, and membership websites;
  • Actively implement new technology into custom website builds, and actively offer suggestions for continual growth and improvement;
  • Build out website pages using provided content;
  • Search for, optimize, and include stock photography in website builds;
  • Optimize websites for SEO, including improving page speed and ensuring accurate and relevant title and description tags are included on all pages;
  • Engage in direct communication with customers to complete support tickets and provide training;
  • Utilize time tracking and project management tools to track your work;
  • Provide documentation and training to be used by client to manage their website as Editors or WooCommerce Shop Managers;
  • Assist Iceberg’s team with Quality Assurance checks prior to launch of new projects;
  • Engage in weekly L10 meetings with Iceberg’s Production Department;
  • Assist Iceberg’s Project Manager and VP of Sales & Marketing in estimating projects;
  • Work on advanced internal WordPress development projects, including theme building and custom plugin writing and modifications;
  • Actively learn and continue your education in best practices for development.

Key Perfomance Indicators

  • Attend Production L10 Meetings via Zoom weekly;
  • Deliver assigned tasks on time, per timeline or task due date;
  • Track your time when working on customer projects or internal projects; 
  • Assist Iceberg’s support team to solve open support tickets in a timely fashion;
  • You will be available for communication and provide updates to Iceberg team members via Slack, phone, or in person;
  • Attend meetings with customers when requested.

Job Qualifications.

  • Ability to be the lead developer on complex WordPress website projects;
  • Experience with the full build of a WooCommerce website (please provide a portfolio sample);
  • Self-starter with the ability to independently problem solve and make decisions;
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot WordPress, WooCommerce, and other types of websites;
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to track and manage your time and tasks, including attention to detail and data entry accuracy;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • A design eye to help with page building and layout;
  • Ability to communicate frequently and efficiently via email; good grammatical and spelling capabilities;
  • Ability to collaborate within a cross functional team.

Education & Experience.

  • 3 years minimum experience at a website development or similar agency;
  • 4+ years WordPress development experience;
  • 2+ years WooCommerce development experience;
  • 4+ years experience working with HTML, CSS, Javascript and PHP;
  • Experience working with Git or other version control systems;
  • Familiar with WordPress specific e-commerce and membership software and integrations;
  • Experience with REST API and WordPress theme and plugin development a plus.

Time Commitment, Compensation & Benefits.

  • Time Commitment: Full time, 32-40 hours/week.
  • Compensation: Pay commensurate with your agency and website development experience.
  • Location: Our office is located in Anoka, Minnesota. Our team is currently working in a hybrid capacity. Please indicate your ability and preference to work in-office or remote. Include experience working remotely in your job application.
  • Paid vacation, medical, parental and sick leave. 
  • Quarterly bonuses based on meeting team goals eligible after 90 days of employment.
